Proposal On The Auxier Ridge In the Red River Gorge

Last March, Karlan surprised Nicole with the most epic adventure surprise proposal. Karlan knew he wanted to do this on the stunning Auxier Ridge in the Red River Gorge in Kentucky. He emphasized that they loved this trail for its breathtaking views and that it’s dog-friendly!

The Day Of The Surprise Proposal

Nicole had no idea he was going to pop the question. Karlan told Nicole he wanted to enjoy the beautiful day by hiking with their dogs, Boone and Dex. Since this was a beloved trail of theirs, Nicole didn’t seem suspicious at all!

The day started like any other weekend; Karlan and Nicole had breakfast and then headed out for a nice hike with the dogs. Secretly, I drove around the same time but let them hike first. I got a few shots of the couple walking upward sneakily. This spring day offered many candid photos of the couple surrounded by nature. Once we reached the top, I found a great hiding spot to capture the surprise proposal.

The Custom Engagement Ring

Fun fact about Karlan – he works for a jewelry store. Therefore, he was able to create a custom ring perfect for Nicole. He proposed with a marquise diamond on a classic gold band. It was stunning and unique. Nicole was utterly shocked and gave Karlan the biggest smile and hug – it was so beautiful and romantic! The Auxier Ridge had the best overlook for an adventurous proposal.

Post Auxier Ridge Proposal Hike

After photographing their proposal at the overlook, we all hiked down together and stopped for many engagement photos. We encountered alluring views, unique arches, and thick forests along the way. These spots were magic in capturing this joyous occasion. The Auxier Ridge Loop is one of the most beautiful hikes in the stunning Red River Gorge.

Karlan and Nicole were beaming with joy, and it was even more special sharing this moment with their beloved dogs, Boone and Dex. They were such great sports, and you could feel their love for their human parents!
